Rory McIlroy will tee off as the world number one for the first time at the WGC Cadillac Championship at Doral this week. The Northern Irishman assumed the mantle of the world’s top ranked player with his win in the Honda Classic last week. Former world number one Tiger Woods carded a final round score of 62 at the event to storm hope for 2nd and will be confident of building on that result. He has won here on six previous occasions, although his most recent success was five years ago.
Phil Mickelson , Geoff Ogilvy and Nick Watney are other previous winners that will take part in the tournament. Jason Day , Adam Scott and Aaron Baddeley are amongst the Australians to tee off at Doral.
