West Ham  can move into the automatic promotion places with a win over sixth placed Middlesbrough  in the Championship on Wednesday morning (AEST). The Hammers go into the match missing several key players however, with James Tomkins joining leading scorer Ricardo Vaz Te, Papa Bouba Diop and Julien Faubert on the injured list. West Ham drew 1-1  away to Leeds on Saturday, their third match in a row that has ended with that scoreline.

Middlesbrough also has some big players of their own missing, with skipper Barry Robson suspended and Australian utility Rhys Williams injured. Boro has struggled for consistency in the past month, losing three of their previous five league matches, including their past two, but a win would move them up to fourth. That could be easier said than done however, with West Ham having won five on the past six league matches between the sides, while the other ended in a draw . The Hammers won 2-0  at the Riverside on November 29.

In other Championship fixtures, league leaders Southampton  are away to Hull City , while second placed Reading  travel to Peterborough .
