All eyes will be on boom Manly halfback Daly Cherry-Evans when his side takes on the Cronulla Sharks from Toyota Park in Monday night Football. Cherry-Evans was a hot topic of conversation last week after the premiership winning halfback allegedly asked for a release from the final year of his contract with the Sea Eagles to test his worth on the open market. Manly coach Geoff Toovey has denied any claims that Cherry-Evans had requested a release however the Sea Eagles are set to offer the youngster an updated contract to extend his stay on Sydney’s northern beaches.

The Sharks have been extremely unlucky, having a certain try disallowed against the Tigers to be beaten in golden point and bombing a total of seven tries against the Knights last week. Execution will be the key for Shane Flanagan’s team as they search for their first competition points of the season.

History – Manly have been on fire against the Sharks in recent time. The Sea Eagles are on an impressive six games winning streak against their opponents and haven’t been beaten since round one of 2008.

Dangermen – David ‘Wolfman’ Williams has been in great form since returning from injury scoring a try and looking dangerous every time he touches the ball. Cronulla flyer Nathan Garnder has had a quiet start to the season however it is only a matter of time before he rediscovers his try scoring ability.

Prediction – The Sea Eagles have had a tormotulous week with media speculation and uncertainties on the financial situation of the club. The Sharks will be out to prove they are no easy beats and should win a close encounter. Sharks 1-12 .
