Monday 12 March, 2012 - A truck driver has come forward this morning to claim a $3,619,064.60 division one prize, on a Powerball ticket he purchased in Deeragun.
The lucky winner explained that he has been busy with work, and hadn’t had time to check his entry until
“It wasn’t until this morning, when someone told me that a division one winning Powerball entry sold at
Woodlands Newsagency remained unclaimed, that I thought I’d better have my ticket checked,” he said.
“When Golden Casket confirmed that my ticket was the winner, and was now worth more than $3.6 million
dollars, I became all flustered and couldn’t think straight!
“This is amazing news.”
When asked how he plans to use his windfall the winner said he would need some time to think about it.
“I’ve only just found out and I’m still in shock! I’m not sure what I’ll do,” he said.
Golden Casket Public Relations Executive Louise Azzopardi said she encourages customers to register
their entries to a Winners Circle card so that Golden Casket can contact them if they win a division one
“As this winner didn’t register his entry to a Winners Circle card, Golden Casket had no way of contacting
him to tell him the life changing news,” Ms Azzopardi said.
The truck driver purchased his winning PowerHit entry from Woodlands Newsagency in the Woodlands
Shopping Village, while passing through the town.
Playing a PowerHit entry guarantees the winning Powerball number and is equivalent to 45 standard
The Deeragun winner was the only division one winner nationally in last week’s Powerball draw 825. The
winning numbers were 33, 18, 17, 6 and 29; the Powerball was number 7.
