Anthony Griffin has named Corey Norman  as Darren Lockyer’s immediate replacement for the Broncos round one encounter with Parramatta . Griffin has announced that Norman will be given sufficient time to claim the number six jersey on a permanent basis, however competition will remain fierce with Ben Hunt who is named in the utility position on a robust Brisbane bench.

The Beenleigh product has impressed since bursting on to the scene in round one of 2010 when he was named man of the match and since then has played a total of 21 first grade games for the Broncos. The game against Parramatta however shapes to be the biggest of his career as he hopes to secure the most talked about jersey in rugby league. Broncos skipper Sam Thaiday moves to the front row in the absence of Petro Civoniceva, while Ben Te’o claims Thaiday’s vacant back row jersey.

Parramatta are without Jaryd Hayne, after the classy playmaker was ruled out with a knee injury suffered in the Eels’ trial loss to Penrith. Hayne is replaced by new recruit Ben Roberts who pulls on the Eels jumper for the first time alongside star signing Chris Sandow .

History: The Broncos like travelling to Paramatta, in fact they have a better record at Parammatta than they do at home winning 71% of games on the Eels hallow turf. Traditionally the two sides endure close scoring, hard fought contests with the last three games between the two clubs decided by a combined total of fifteen points.

Dangermen: Jahral Yow Yeh  crossed the line for a total of fourteen tries last season and was also the first try scorer in this year’s All Stars game. Eels flyer Esi Tonga  will be out to impress his new club after having limited opportunities while playing for the Gold Coast Titans.

Prediction: The Broncos boast one of the best benches in the NRL with the likes of McGuire, Gillett and Hunt providing plenty of impact and they should have too much depth for their opponents who are significantly understrength. Broncos 1-12 .
