The Gold Coast Suns  and Geelong Cats  open the second round of the NAB Cup when they meet at Metricon Stadium on Friday night. The Suns began the preseason competition with a three point win over Melbourne in their first game last weekend before losing narrowly to the Brisbane Lions later that night. Coach Guy McKenna will continue to trial hardman Nathan Bock up front, while boom seventeen year old Jaeger O’Meara set to line up for Gold Coast again.

Geelong opened their 2012 campaign with a win and a loss in the opening round of the NAB Cup and will go into the game against the Suns with just seven of its premiership winning 22. Paul Chapman, Steve Johnson and James Podsiadly are amongst those sitting the match out, although Tom Hawkins is set to play his face game of 2012.

When the Cats hosted the Suns at Simonds Stadium in round twenty last season, they belted their inexperienced opponents 188 to 38.
