Mackay’s $100,000 mystery winner found!

Thursday 23 February, 2012 - A Mackay labourer received a very nice surprise today, when he discovered that his $2 Casket ticket had won the $100,000 top prize.

The man said he discovered his windfall when he visited a Golden Casket outlet today to have his ticket checked.

“I’m not quite sure what I’ll do with the prize money,” he explained.

“I’ll put it in the bank until I decide on the best way to use it.”

Golden Casket Public Relations Executive Louise Azzopardi explained that the winner had been completely unaware that he was carrying the equivalent of $100,000 in cash around in his wallet for more than a week.

“If the entry had been registered to a Winners Circle card, we would have been able to contact him last week to let him know the great news,” Ms Azzopardi said.

The winning ticket was purchased from Fourways Newsagency on Nebo Road, Mackay West.

Golden Casket is still searching for the mystery holder of the first prize winning $2 Casket ticket from draw 286 on 8 September 2010, sold at Woodridge News & Casket.
