The Newcastle Jets  will be looking to get their season back on track when they host Adelaide United  at Hunter Stadium on Friday night. The Jets had soared into the finals positions with three wins on the trot, but were firmly put in their place when going down 2-0 to Perth Glory last weekend. Two points outside the top six with just five rounds of the season proper remaining, this is a must win game for Gary van Egmond’s team.

Adelaide United suffered a 2-1 defeat against Sydney FC in the last round that more or less ensures that they won’t be playing finals football this campaign. The Reds have won just one of their past seven fixtures and are quickly running out of time to close the seven point gap to sixth placed Sydney FC.

There have been two meetings between these clubs this year, with both ending in a draw . The January 25 showdown in Bathurst ended 1-1 , while it ended 0-0  when they met in November.
