India and Sri Lanka clash in game eight of the Commonwealth Bank ODI series on Tuesday. The Indians disappointing summer continued on Sunday night with a lacklustre performance against Australia going down by 110 runs in the searing Brisbane heat. To add salt to their wounds, the Indians have lost MS Dhoni for their must-win match after the inspirational skipper was banned for one match due to a slow over-rate against the Aussies.
Dhoni was once again was the only Indian batsmen to provide any resistance to a firing Aussie pace attack scoring an innings high 56 runs. Sachin Tendulkar and Gautam Gambhir once again failed to perform at the top of the order and will both need form reversals if India is to compete with a strong Sri Lankan bowling line-up.
Sri Lanka will be full of confidence heading into the match following a convincing eight wicket win over Australia in a rain affected match last Friday. Mahela Jayawardene starred for the Sri Lankans on his way to a top score of 61 not out. The two teams are familiar with close fought matches with the last between the them ending in a dramatic last over tie.
