Richmond battle North Melbourne in the first of three matches in the opening night of the 2012 NAB Cup. North has a couple of candidates for roll changes this season with the likes of Todd Goldstein, Hamish McIntosh and former Box Hill Hawks captain Sam Gibson expected to be assessed heavily by Brad Scott against the Tigers.

The Tigers too have a host of new names wearing club colours for the first time. West Adelaide’s Steven Morris and the Tigers first draft pick Brandon Ellis will have their first proper hit out for 2012.

North Melbourne will back up in the second match of the night when they take on Hawthorn . All eyes will be on dual Coleman Medallist Buddy Franklin who is expected to receive game time after dominating last week’s intra club match.

The final match of the night sees Hawthorn back up against Richmond . The two clubs met in Round 3 of last year’s AFL season with Hawthorne crucshing the Tigers by ten goals thanks to a five goal haul from Franklin.
