Australia  will be without skipper Michael Clarke for their match against Sri Lanka on Friday. Clarke has been ruled out of the match with a hamstring injury. Ricky Ponting will skipper the side in Clarke’s absence with David Warner overlooked for the role.

Peter Forrest has again been named in the 14-man Australian squad after scoring an impressive 66 on debut against India to put the aging Australian top order on notice, while David Hussey will hope to continue his fine summer after top scoring with 72 against India. Brett Lee returns earlier than expected after suffering a toe injury that was meant to sideline the paceman for well over a month.

Sri Lanka will be fired up after their match against India slipped away from them ending in a dramatic draw. Dinesh Chandmial top scored for the Sri Lankans with 81 while both Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene showed promising signs with the bat. Sri Lanka will need to win if they are any chance of featuring in the final series.
