Wellington Phoenix  host defending premiers Brisbane Roar  at Westpac Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The New Zealand based side has surged to second on the ladder on the back of five wins in their past six matches. Last week, they overcame an early deficit to beat Adelaide United 2-1  at Hindmarsh Stadium.

Brisbane also recorded a good win last week, defeating competition pacesetters Central Coast 2-0  in Gosford. After starting the season with the same sort of form which led them to the title last year, the Roar have been terribly inconsistent and another win against a premiership contender would go a long way to proving they are back to their best.

Wellington stunned Brisbane by collecting a draw  in the first meeting between the teams at Suncorp Stadium early in the season, before proving that was no fluke with a 2-0  win in Dunedin on December 14.

The second match of the day sees the bottom two teams lock horns as Gold Coast United  hosts Adelaide United .
