World number 36 Bernard Tomic faces a player ranked 466 places below him in the second singles match on the opening day of Australia’s Asia/Oceania zone one Davis Cup tie against China in Geelong. The nineteen year old isn’t expected to be troubled by world number 502 Wu Di , who went down in straight sets  to Tomic’s Davis Cup teammate Lleyton Hewitt at the Hopman Cup in Perth at the start of the year.

Hewitt , playing in a record equalling 32nd Davis Cup tie, opens Australia’s 2012 campaign against Zhang Ze .
