Friday 7 December, 2012 - An instruction from his wife to stop off at the shop on his way home led to an $85,000 windfall for a fortunate Warrawee Instant Scratch-Its player.
The winner, a 60-year-old man, said he will use the $85,000 Top Prize win from a $4 Instant Scratch-Its ticket to pay off his mortgage.
“I got a message from my wife to stop at the shops on my way home from work, while I was there I bought some Christmas cards and with the change bought two Instant Scratch-Its tickets,” the winner said.
“I waited until I got home and I scratched the $2 ticket first. As I scratched I thought ‘how wonderful, I’ve won a free ticket,’ then I scratched the $4 ticket.
“When I realised I had won the $85,000 Top Prize I checked it three times and then told my wife to have a look at it while I poured her a glass of wine to celebrate,” the delighted winner said.
“We didn’t sleep a wink thinking about winning all of that money. We will use the winnings to pay off the mortgage. It is just wonderful, it will really help us over the next few years.
“Winning $85,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket has been a great experience,” the winner added.
The $85,000 winning $4 Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased from Thornleigh Newsagency at Shop 8, 2-12 Comenerra Parkway, Thornleigh.
