Tuesday 18 December, 2012 - How would you celebrate a major lotto win just in time for the New Year? Would you throw a party for friends and family? Buy a brand new car? Do backstroke in a swimming pool filled with cash?
That last one is unlikely, but the options are endless! One of the biggest Saturday Lotto events of the year, the $30 million Megadraw, will take place on Saturday 29 December. Imagine unwrapping all your dreams with a share in a huge division one prize like some other fortunate NSW and ACT winners.
In the 12-months to 1 December 2012, NSW and ACT players scored 114 division one prizes across all NSW Lotteries Lotto products, equating to more than $219.4 million in division one prize money!
So where were the winning tickets sold?
The latest statistics released by NSW Lotteries reveal that there was a tie for the coveted title of ‘NSW Lotteries’ 2012 Lotto Hotspot’, with postcodes 2150 (Parramatta), 2560 (Campbelltown) and 2170 (Hammondville, Casula, Chipping Norton and Moorebank) selling more division one winning tickets than any other area in the State. Each of these postcodes sold four (4) division one winning tickets.
NSW Lotteries spokesperson Zoe Knobel said that although these Lotto Hotspots sold several division one winning tickets this year, it does not mean that a ticket purchased in one of those areas has more chance of winning than any other ticket.
“People often ask where the most winning tickets have been sold and visit the area to buy a ticket in the hope of purchasing a winner,” Ms Knobel said.
“When it comes down to it, every number has an equal chance of being drawn, no matter where you buy your ticket – but you have to be in it to win it!” Ms Knobel added.
This year 32 Australians began 2012 as winners, each scoring $968,750 in the 2011 December Megadraw.
A ticket in the $30 million Saturday Lotto Megadraw on December 29 is the perfect Christmas gift for friends, family or work colleagues - a gift that could truly keep on giving!
Don’t forget to register your Megadraw ticket to your Players Club card to ensure NSW Lotteries can contact you should you be one of the fortunate division one winners.
