Sunday 4 November, 2012 - After another successive week of jackpotting, the Oz Lotto division one prize pool for Tuesday has climbed to an unprecedented $100 million, the largest advertised lotto jackpot offered in Australian history.
The historic draw, which takes place on November 6, will coincide with Melbourne Cup Day.
Golden Casket Spokesperson Elissa Lewis said that the value of the Oz Lotto draw has outstripped any previous advertised jackpot offered in Australia.
“The Oz Lotto division one prize has jackpotted for nine consecutive weeks to reach $100 million,” Ms Lewis said.
“Unlike last week’s $70 million draw, we are now entering uncharted lotto territory, with this guaranteed first division $100 million prize pool eclipsing all of our previous records.
“The first Tuesday of November has traditionally been one of the most celebrated and eagerly anticipated days of the calendar year for Australians.
“Public anticipation is palpable, partly because if there’s only one Oz Lotto winner on Tuesday, they’ll also win the title of the largest lotto winner in Australian history,” Ms Lewis said.
The current record amount won with a single entry is the $58.7 million Powerball prize won in Victoria in 2008.
If Oz Lotto players purchasing a ticket in last week’s $70 million jackpot draw experienced queues at Golden Casket outlets, they can expect to see more of the same this week.
“We anticipate approximately 7.5 million entries will be purchased in the $100 million Oz Lotto jackpot nationwide; that’s around one in two Australian adults,” Ms Lewis said.
Golden Casket reminds players to register their entries to their Winners Circle Card for added security and the benefit of being personally contacted if they win a division one prize.
“Registering your Oz Lotto entries to your Winners Circle Card not only means any prize won is recorded in your name, but it also means you’ll receive that dream-come-true phone call telling you the amazing news of a first division win!”
The jaw-dropping $100 million Oz Lotto draw will take place on Tuesday night, 6 November 2012.
