Following back-to-back podium finishes, Australian driver Mark Webber will be bidding for his third win of the year when he lines up on the grid at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday. After winning the Monaco Grand Prix and the British Grand Prix in the first half of the season, the 36 year-old had struggled for consistency before finishing second to his Red Bull Racing-Renault teammate Sebastian Vettel in Korea on October 14. He followed that result with a third placing in India and will have fond memories of the Yas Marina Circuit having recorded the fastest lap in the race on his way to a fourth place finish twelve months ago. A strong showing in the Arab state could be enough to see Webber move ahead of Kimi Raikkonen into third on the Driver Standings.
While Webber has improved dramatically in the past two races, the performances of teammate Sebastian Vettel recently have been even more remarkable. The German has won the past four races to assume control of the world championship and will be tough to beat again this time around. The 25 year-old has won two of the three Formula One races at the track and started from pole last year but was forced to retire on the opening lap after suffering a puncture. Lewis Hamilton went on to win the race from Fernando Alonso and fellow Briton Jenson Button , who are all likely to contend for the win on Sunday night (AEST).
