Fulham Takes On Cats In The Cottage

Adam Johnson may have ended Sunderland’s eight-hour and 55-minute goal drought against Everton last weekend, but he couldn’t bring to a halt the Black Cats’ run of outs, which has seen them win just one match in 18 starts. The Toffees’ 2-1 victory leaves Martin O’Neill’s team in 16th spot, hovering just above the relegation zone.

Things aren’t getting any better for the Tyneside outfit, with injury concerns over captain Lee Cattermole, Steven Fletcher and Phil Bardsley. The latter two withdrew from the Scotland team which scraped past Luxembourg 2-1 midweek.

Fulham , meanwhile, will come in to the game on a high after their last start comeback against Arsenal, where they fought back from a 2-0 deficit at Emirates Stadium to steal a point with a 3-3 draw. The Cottagers could be higher up the table, but for a frustrating run where they have shared the points in four of their past five games.

Dimitar Berbatov has been instrumental in Fulham moving in to the top half of the table. He has scored five goals since arriving from Manchester United on transfer deadline day, and snapped up a brace against the Gunners. His efforts have helped Fulham find the back of the net more times this season than any other team, apart from United.

There isn’t a history of goals in this match-up. Four out of the last eight contests have finished in a scoreless draw , although Fulham did win the corresponding match at Craven Cottage 2-1 last season. In contrast, 10 of Fulham’s 11 EPL matches this season have finished with more than 2.5 goals .
