Three NSW winning entries share Powerball's $40 million jackpot

Friday 5 October, 2012 - Three NSW winning entries, now worth more than $13 million each, were the big winners in last night’s Powerball $40 million jackpot draw.

The three winning entries were sold in the Sydney suburb of Chatswood, the NSW Central Coast suburb of Wamberal plus a 12 share NSW Lotteries central syndicate with shares sold throughout Sydney’s suburbs. Each syndicate shareholder will pick up a $1,111,111 share of the division one prize pool.

Chatswood’s $13,333,333 winning entry belongs to a registered NSW Lotteries Players Club member who purchased their ticket from Westfield Chatswood Newsagency.

A registered NSW Lotteries Players Club member who purchased their Powerball entry from Wamberal Newsagency at 774 The Entrance Road, Wamberal can also celebrate scooping a $13,333,333 share of Powerball’s $40 million division one prize pool.

The 12 winning NSW Lotteries central syndicate shares were sold from Kellyville, Leppington, Manly, Turramurra, Lansvale, Concord, Petersham, Cherrybrook, Eastwood, Kingswood, Pagewood and Botany.

NSW Lotteries Communications Executive Una O’Neill said that with 14 new millionaires in NSW there is plenty to celebrate.

“After jackpotting six times to reach $40 million, Powerball’s huge division one prize pool was shared among three NSW winning entries,” Ms O’Neill said

“With two $13 million winners and a 12 share NSW Lotteries central syndicate sharing the $40 million division one-prize pool, Powerball has made 14 new millionaires in NSW.

“Both of Powerball’s $13 million winners are registered Players Club members which means that NSW Lotteries can contact the winners to give them the once in a lifetime news of their Powerball windfall.

“Members of the 12 share NSW Lotteries central syndicate will each take home more than $1.1 million,” Ms O’Neill added.

The winning numbers in Powerball’s $40 million jackpot draw 855 were 45, 44, 26, 41 and 20 with the Powerball number 9.

There are still lots of chances to win big over the next week with $4 million on offer in Saturday Lotto, more than $1.2 million in Lotto Strike, $1 million for up to two winners in Monday Lotto and Oz Lotto has a $20 million jackpot prize on offer this Tuesday.
