Arsenal handed lowly Norwich City its first win of the season at the weekend, but make no mistake, the Gunners are a different team when it comes to European football at Emirates Stadium. The North Londoners have a phenomenal record at their home ground; since going down to Inter Milan in 2003, Arsenal has not lost to non-English opposition in 45 games there.

Unlike Arsene Wenger’s team, Schalke 04 comes in to this match on the back of good domestic form. They sit third in the Bundesliga, and recently toppled reigning titleholder Borussia Dortmund. Schalke will also be encouraged by the length of Arsenal’s injury list which features the likes of Bacary Sagna, Abou Diaby, Tomas Rosicky, Darren Gibbs, Theo Walcott, Wojciech Szczesny and Laurent Koscielny.

In their last four matches against English opposition, though, the Germans have failed to find the back of the net . In saying that, all four matches these teams have played in Group B so far have finished with over 2.5 goals . Schalke has certainly been consistent in the Champions League in recent years, winning 14 and losing just four of their past 25 matches in Europe’s premier club competition.
