After opening their Champions League T20 campaign with a 14 run win over Indian Premier League heavyweights Chennai on Sunday, the Sydney Sixers face their second test of the tournament when they face Yorkshire on Tuesday. The Big Bash champions built their opening win on a solid all round performance, with Australian stars Shane Watson and Mitchell Starc amongst the best performers. No one has been in better form than Moises Henriques however, with the 25 year old putting in a man of the match performance against the Super Kings. After hitting an unbeaten 49 from just 23 deliveries, Henriques collected the crucial wickets of Suresh Raina, Subramaniam Badrinath and MS Dhoni to halt Chennai’s run chase.
English T20 runners-up Yorkshire are playing their first match of the group stage at the event after winning two qualifying matches to get into the tournament proper. Promising young batsman Gary Ballance proved his worth in the second of those matches, scoring 64 not out to guide his side to a six wicket win over Trinidad and Tobago and he will have added responsibility in the absence of South African import David Miller. Miller is unavailable for Yorkshire next three matches as he is required for duty with his South Africa provincial side. Mitchell Starc starred for the county in their run to the final of the English domestic competition and is also unavailable after electing to play for his local team. Former New South Wales star Phil Jaques will line up for the Tykes against many of his former teammates.
