Hobart Hurricanes v Melbourne Stars

Competition leaders Hobart  welcome the Melbourne Stars  to Blundstone Arena on Monday night, hoping to maintain their perfect home record in the Big Bash. Despite lacking any real superstars, the Hurricanes have been the dominant team so far in the competition, winning four of their five matches. Travis Birt  and Englishman Owais Shah  have starred with the bat, while Pakistani import Rana Naved is the leading bowler in the competition with twelve wickets.

In direct contrast, the Melbourne Stars have failed to perform up to expectations despite boasting high profile players like Shane Warne and Australian t20 captain Cameron White . They have failed to show their best and haven’t looked like the tournament favourites that they went into the event as. Luke Wright was given a shot at the top of the order in the Melbourne derby on the weekend and got his team off to a promising start but it was again left to David Hussey  to get the big runs. The t20 specialist has top scored for his team in three of their five matches during this campaign.
