Family syndicate shares TattsLotto windfall

Monday 9 January, 2012 - A Mornington Peninsula family has reason to celebrate this week, after their family TattsLotto syndicate won a division one prize worth $861,167.12 on Saturday night.

The syndicate leader explained that the prize money will be shared equally among the seven shareholders, who span three generations.

“The seven of us have been taking a shared Super 7’s Oz Lotto entry and Saturday TattsLotto entry every week for the past four years,” he said.

“When we decided to start taking a regular entry together, I was responsible for picking the numbers. I chose them at random and we’ve been playing with them every Tuesday and Saturday since.

“We’ve had a few decent wins over the years but this is our first division one.”

When asked how he plans to use his share of the division one prize money, the syndicate leader said he and his wife would pool their two shares and purchase an investment property.

“We haven’t told the rest of the family yet,” he said.

“We’re going to try and get everyone together and then surprise them with the news.”

The syndicate leader purchased the winning System 9 entry from Hastings Gold Mine in Hastings.

Hastings Gold Mine owners Sue and Lyle Ridout said Saturday’s winning entry was the 22nd division one winning ticket the outlet has sold since it opened 30 years ago and the eighth division one winning entry sold in the ten years they have owned the outlet.

“We’ve had a good run of luck over the years and are hopeful we’ll sell another division one winning ticket in the not too distant future,” they said.

“So come in and see us at Hastings Gold Mine – you could be our next big winner!”

There were five division one winners nationally in TattsLotto draw 3179.

There were two division one winners in Victoria, two in New South Wales and one in Western Australia. The winning numbers were 29, 33, 30, 44, 45 and 19 with supplementaries 6 and 13.
