Melbourne Stars v Perth Scorchers

The Melbourne Stars  will be looking to claw their way away from the bottom of the table when they face the Perth Scorchers  in the Big Bash League on Wednesday night. Despite boasting a team that has eight players with international experience, the Stars have won just one of their opening three fixtures and desperately need a win to remain in the hunt for a spot in the semi-finals. Australian t20 wicketkeeper Matthew Wade has made just twenty runs in his three innings in the competition and skipper Cameron White hasn’t fared even worse, accumulating just six in three bats. David Hussey has led the way with the bat but he needs support from the rest of the top order if Melbourne is to get a winning score.

After losing their opening game against the Hurricanes, Perth has bounced back with two straight wins and find themselves well positioned on the table. After the experienced opening partnership of Herschelle Gibbs and Marcus North got them off to a flyer against Brisbane, they were always in control and cruised to a 10 run win. Surprisingly for a team based at the WACA, their spin duo of Michael Beer and Brad Hogg have played a big part in the Scorchers success and will again be pivotal to their team’s chances of registering another win at the MCG.
