Aussie teenager Bernard Tomic faces Tatsuma Ito from Japan at the Brisbane International tonight after defeating Frenchman Julien Benneteau in three sets on Monday. The pair met at the Tokyo Open in October, with the Australian winning in a three set thriller after losing the opening stanza 6-7 . Ito won through with a straight sets win over local qualifier Benjamin Mitchell.
The second match of the night sees top seed Andy Murray takes on world number 54 Gilles Muller after surviving a scare against Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Kukushkin in the opening round. After losing the opening set, Murray rallied to win 5-7 6-3 6-2 and book a meeting with Muller. The Luxembourg ace laboured to a hard fought win against unheralded Brazilian Ricardo Mello at the start of the week.
