The Perth Scorchers will host the Sydney Sixers in the final of the Big Bash League after both teams won their respective semi-finals on the weekend. Perth had home ground advantage against the Melbourne Stars after finishing on top of the table and made it count, with an eleven run win that was largely built on the heroics of Mitchell Marsh. The Sydney Sixers won through to the decider by defending a modest target of 153 against the Hurricanes in Hobart on Sunday night.
Much of the Scorchers success has been built around the dynamic opening partnership of Herschelle Gibbs and Marcus North , who have regularly got their team off to a good start. Mitchell Marsh has also made a solid contribution with the bat, while Brad Hogg and Ben Edmondson are amongst the leading wicket takers in the competition.
For the Sixers, Nic Maddinson has been the standout with the bat, scoring over 100 runs more than any other Sixers player in the tournament. Moises Henriques has top scored for his side twice, while Australian pace bowler Mitchell Starc has done the most damage with the ball, collecting eleven wickets in his five matches.
The Sixers scored a thrilling one run win when the teams met at the SCG in the final round of the regular season.
