The Hobart Hurricanes  and Sydney Sixers  lock horns at Blundstone Arena on Sunday night with a place in the Big Bash final on the line. Although both teams finished the regular season with ten points courtesy of five wins from their seven matches, Hobart earnt hosting rights by having a better net run rate than their opponents.

After setting the pace in the competition with four straight wins, the Hurricanes dropped their next two matches before getting back in the winner’s circle with a thrilling last over win against the Renegades on Wednesday. English import Owais Shah  set up the win with an unbeaten 49 and is the key man in the hosts batting order alongside Travis Birt , who is the leading runscorer in the tournament. Allrounder Matt Johnston could return to the side in place of Mark Cosgrove.

The Sydney Sixers could be boosted by the availability of Australian representative Shane Watson as he tries to prove his fitness for the upcoming t20 internationals and ODI tri-series. His presence at the top of the order would be a huge boost to the Sixers, who have relied heavily on young gun Nic Maddinson  to score runs for them. Mitchell Starc and Brad Haddin are unavailable due to international commitments, with the loss of Starc a particularly cruel blow for a team already missing several fast bowlers through injury.

When the teams met in Hobart in the second round of the competition, the Hurricanes recorded a comfortable 42 run win.
