Racing Preview 21st January

Kensington Stakes **TattsBet $44,147 First Four Jackpot** (MR6) - Obsidian Dragon has been racing in fine form lately and is sure to be in the finish of this race. The classy mare has won her last three starts and should jump straight to the front and be hard to catch. Star Of Giselle scored an impressive win down the Flemington straight last year and looks to have a big future. She made a pleasing reappearance and will go well. Weekend Special and Decircles are both lightly raced horses that appear to have plenty of upside, while The Soldier scored a good win over course and distance here last month and warrants respect.
Selections: Obsidian Dragon, Star Of Giselle, Decircles, The Soldier

**TattsBet $5,994 Treble Jackpot (BR6, BR7 & BR8)**

BM 90 Handicap (BR6) – Tomboy made a big impression with his easy first up win at Doomben last month and can be forgiven for his flop on New Year’s Eve. He didn’t get the clearest of runs in that race and should just about make amends for that with any luck in this contest. Canny trainer Sue Grills has tasted success when sending her horses over the border from Tamworth in the past and her smart gelding Usain Prince will go well in this race. Although this is a big step up in class, he has been racing well and the 3kg claim by Jessica Drury will make things easier for him. Narcelo will appreciate this step up in trip after finishing well over 100m less at the Gold Coast two weeks ago, while Lucky Luna and Prost should go well despite having to carry big weights.
Selections: Tomboy, Narcelo, Usain Prince, Lucky Luna

Open Handicap (BR7) – Despite having to carry a big weight, Ollie Vollie has to be given a good chance in this race based on his big performance to finish 1.5 lengths behind the winner in a Listed race in Sydney. The 3kg claim for his jockey will help and he should be in the finish. Purettan is a smart sprinter and will appreciate a 3.5kg weight drop from his last run when third over this trip at Doomben. Reilly Blue is ultra-consistent and will again be in the mix at the finish, while The Sixties could be hard to run down if he gets his own way out in front.
Selections: Purettan, Ollie Vollie, Reilly Blue, The Sixties

Class 6 Handicap **TattsBet $4,746 Quinella Jackpot** (BR8) – The Reveller has progressed through the grades nicely, winning three of his past four starts and looks to have a leading chance in this contest also. The 1400m trip stretched him last time and he is much more comfortable over the 1200m here. Mondean has a good second up record (3 runs 1 win 2 seconds) and should again be in the finish, while Achievements loves the big Eagle Farm track and has registered two wins from as many starts here. Magic Tartan has drawn well and has a strong chance to build on her last start win, while Encinitas and Tightrope warrant respect.
Selections: The Reveller, Magic Tartan, Encinitas, Mondean
