Brisbane Roar will be looking to make amends for their 2-1 home defeat in December when they face Melbourne Heart at AAMI Park on Saturday night. After having their 36 game unbeaten run ended by Sydney FC the week before, Brisbane conceded two first half goals to the Heart and couldn’t get back into the contest.
They come into this match in decent form, having won two and drawn two of their past four fixtures. After looking like tasting defeat against Sydney FC for the second time in the season last week, two injury time goals stunned the sky blues to give Brisbane a dramatic win that catapulted them back up to second on the ladder.
Melbourne Heart come into the match in poor form, having lost three of their past four matches after putting together seven wins in eight. They played well against the table-topping Central Coast Mariners on the weekend, and were possibly unlucky to lose 1-0. New signing Paul Reid is unavailable for them, as is Fred, Nick Kalmar and Kliment Taseski, who are all long term injury concerns.
Brisbane skipper Matt Smith will be given until the last minute to prove that he has recovered from a cork to his thigh suffered against Sydney, but playmaker Thomas Broich should start again after making his comeback from injury last week.
