Bernard Tomic  faces thirteenth seed Alexandr Dolgopolov  in the third round of the Australian Open tonight, with the winner facing a potential fourth round showdown with four time champion Roger Federer. The nineteen year old Australian comes into the match on the back of two wins in which he fought back from an early deficit to take the match. He trailed two sets to nil against Fernando Verdasco in the opening round and also dropped the first against Sam Querrey in their round two clash.

Dolgopolov was also forced to dig deep in his first two matches, which both went to five sets . He overcame world number 198 Greg Jones after dropping the opening two sets and was then taken to the limit before triumphing 8-6 in the final stanza against German Tobias Kamke in his last match.

The pair have met three times in the past, with the Ukrainian winning on each occasion. Tomic is a much improved player since those meetings however, and on current form, will present a stern test for his more seasoned opponent.
