Melbourne Heart will be hoping to record their first ever victory over the Central Coast Mariners at AAMI park in Melbourne on Wednesday. Despite losing 2-1 to Perth in the west last week, the Heart have been arguably the most improved team in the competition and now sit in outright third on the competition ladder.
Central Coast’s bid for a second consecutive grand final appearance looks in good shape after a draw last week extended their unbeaten run to a club record thirteen matches. The two teams met in week eight of competition with the Mariners recording a convincing 3-1 win in Gosford.
In the earlier match of the double header Sydney FC lock horns with a resurgent Perth Glory outfit. Sydney has enjoyed bragging rights in the fixture of late winning the last five encounters between the two clubs. The last time they met Sydney were victorious 1-0 thanks to a goal in injury time of the first half to attacking midfielder Mark Bridge. Both teams need a win to ensure they are in striking distance of a finals appearance.
