New Melbourne Victory coach Jim Magilton faces a resurgent Adelaide United in his first game in charge of the competition underachievers. Former mentor Mehmet Durakovic led the glamour club to just three wins in their opening fourteen matches this season, but they managed to register another with a 2-1 victory over the Jets under assistant coach Kevin Muscat last weekend.
Adelaide United are locked on 18 points, the same number as their opponents, and they similarities between the sides doesn’t end there. After a poor start to the season the Reds sacked their coach and former boss John Kosmina took the helm once again. Since he took charge, Adelaide are unbeaten and even managed to pull off a major shock when breaking Melbourne Heart’s run of five straight wins with a 3-1 triumph at AAMI Park on January 4.
The teams have already met twice this season, with United winning 1-0 at home in October before the sides played out a 1-1 draw in week ten.
