Following their convincing 2nd Test win at the SCG last week, Australia can wrap up their Test series against India by avoiding defeat in the 3rd Test starting at the WACA on Friday. They will go into the match extremely confident as well, after pummelling India’s attack all around the SCG in amassing 4/659dec against the tourists last week. Captain Michael Clarke  continued his good form, scoring 329*, while Ricky Ponting  and Michael Hussey  also struck much needed centuries.

With James Pattinson out of the series with a foot injury, Ryan Harris  gets another chance to add to his impressive record at the highest level. The big Queensland quick has taken 35 Test wickets at 21 and could form part of a four pronged pace attack alongside Peter Siddle , Ben Hilfenhaus   and the recalled Mitchell Starc . That tactic was employed successfully last year, with the team recorded their only victory of last year’s Ashes series when beating England by 267 runs with a four man pace attack here.

Although the pitch is expected to favour the hosts, India won by 72 runs in the last Test match played between the sides at the ground in 2008. The bouncy Perth pitch usually produces a result, and only one of the last nine Tests at the ground has ended in a draw .

Sachin Tendulkar  will continue his quest for the elusive 100th century in international cricket, while VVS Laxman  and Virat Kohli  may be under pressure to keep their place in the side with Rohit Sharma  and Ajinkya Rahane  waiting for their opportunity.
