Good fortune shines on Ipswich

Wednesday 11 January, 2012 - On the anniversary of last year’s floods, which devastated Ipswich, good fortune has struck in the region, with a local Brassall family winning the entire five million dollar division one prize pool in last night’s OZ 7 Lotto draw.

The winner explained that he always buys his Lotto entries from Vogue Newsagency in Brisbane Street Ipswich, which was inundated in last year’s floods.

“Vogue Newsagency was completely under water in the floods, and didn’t manage to reopen until August,” he said.

“They’ve been through such a tough time; I make a point of giving them my business to show my support.”

The lucky Brassall winner was not aware of his multi-million dollar windfall until Golden Casket phoned him this morning to tell him the life-changing news.

“This is just amazing. I can’t believe it!” he said

“It’s too early to say how we’ll use the prize money, but I can assure you it will make a big difference in our lives.

“Last year was a very challenging year so it’s nice to start 2012 with such great news.

“I can’t wait to tell my wife. I’ll make sure she’s sitting down first!”

The man was the sole division one winner nationally in last night’s OZ 7 Lotto draw 934. The winning numbers were 6, 44, 37, 5, 39, 8 and 7 with supplementaries 33 and 40.

Vogue Newsagency owner Mike Boyland said his store was very excited to be starting 2012 with a division one win, following a year of financial and emotional hardship in 2011.

“Ipswich secured two division one wins in Gold Lotto’s New Year’s Eve Megadraw and now someone in the area has won five million,” he said.

“Let’s hope the good fortune continues in Ipswich in 2012.”
