Liverpool travels to Eastlands Stadium in Manchester on Thursday morning (AEST) to take on a confident Manchester City side. City will be hoping for a repeat in performance of their last match against the Reds a week ago in which they registered a convincing 3-0 win .
The Citizens are starting to make a habit of appearing in Cup finals after taking out last year’s FA Cup and will be looking to add to their expanding trophy cabinet. Liverpool have reached thirteen League Cup semi-finals, winning seven of their first leg matches and reaching the final on ten occasions. Manchester City have appearded in six League Cup semi-finals and have proceeded to the final three times.
City progressed to the semi-finals with a 1-0 win over Arsenal thanks to a late goal by Sergio Aguero at Emirates Stadium while Liverpool accounted for a disappointing Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.
The winner of this tie will be strongly favoured to lift the Carling Cup after two non-league teams Crystal Palace and Cardiff compete for the other finals spot.
