change of ownership process

This process is applicable if you are purchasing an existing outlet and applying to become a Tatts Franchisee.

  1. Is being a Tatts Franchisee right for you?
    Read the Selection Criteria and determine whether you have the qualities required to become a Tatts Franchisee. Furthermore, we recommend that you read the Tatts Disclosure Document which will be provided to you upon application to ensure you have an understanding of the business.
  2. Have you found an existing Tatts Outlet that you wish to purchase?
    Tatts does not facilitate the agreement between the vendor of an existing Outlet and the purchaser. We recommend that you seek independent Legal, Accounting and Business advice during this process.
  3. Application Forms.
    To obtain copies of required forms please contact the Tatts Retail Franchise Coordinator on (07) 3877 1095.
  4. Submit your application
    Submit the Tatts Change of Ownership Application form & Tatts Business Plan including the projected Cash Flow. Please ensure that all requested documents on the checklist are included. If the Application is incomplete, Tatts will be unable to progress and your Application will be posted back to you.
  5. Interview Time & Date confirmed
    A Tatts representative will contact you via telephone to advise you of your interview date and tentative training date. Tatts will then confirm these dates to you via your nominated email address, we will also issue your Franchise Agreement and Disclosure Document via email so you have time to perform due diligence on this documentation.
  6. Interview
    The interview is held at Tatts Head Office on St Kilda Road, Melbourne. If the applicant is, or includes a company or companies, then all directors must attend the interview. If the applicant is, or includes one or more persons, then all persons must attend the interview.
  7. Conditional Approval
    If successful at the interview stage the applicant will receive conditional approval. It is at this stage the applicant will receive a hard copy of their Franchise Agreement, Disclosure Document and ancillary documentation. You will also receive confirmation of training dates as well as any special conditions that are part of the approval process, such as shopfit or training requirements.
  8. Training
    You will be invited to attend our Tatts Franchisee Induction Training. This comprises of one week (5 days) in Tatts Head Office on St Kilda Road, Melbourne, followed by one week (6 days) at an Endorsed Training Outlet.
  9. Final Approval
    If training is successfully completed by all the required applicants, Tatts will issue a Final Approval letter confirming the anticipated settlement date as well as all documentation required to be completed and returned prior to settlement.
  10. Settlement
    Once settlement has taken place you are now a Tatts Franchisee.
