Thirty of the world’s best golfers will tee off in The Tour Championship at East Lakes Golf Club this week, where the 2012 FedEx Cup winner will also be crowned. The tournament is the final ranking points event of the season and brings together the players that have accumulated the most points throughout the rest of the year. It is not surprise that Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy leads the standings, having won three of his past four starts. Despite having never played at the course, he is a worthy pre-tournament favourite.
Tiger Woods has a great record at East Lakes, with a win and four runner-up finishes at the Atlanta course and is in great form having finished third and in a tie for fourth at his last two starts. The 14 time major winner won this event in 1997 and 2007 and is one of four men in the field to have lifted the Tour Championship trophy. Phil Mickelson (2009, 2000), Jim Furyk (2010) and Adam Scott (2006) have all won here within the past six years and Queenslander Scott is one of just two Australians in the field, with John Senden the other.
