Tigers playmaker Benji Marshall has vowed to stick to basics for the Tigers all important round 22 clash against a rejuvenated Parramatta Eels outfit on Monday night. Keith Galloway and Tim Moltzen have both been named in the Tigers starting side despite ongoing injuries that saw them miss last week’s loss to South Sydney. Eels caretaker coach Brad Arthur has opted to stick with the same side that crushed Brisbane last Monday and is aiming to keep his 2-0 record intact after the departure of Stephen Kearney.
– Not much has separated these two sides in recent seasons, both recording five wins each from their past ten games, Benji Marshall slotted a field goal late in their round eight clash to seal a narrow 31-30 win over the Eels. Close encounters are a common theme when these two sides play with four of the past six games decided between a score line of 1-12.
– Tigers flyer Beau Ryan continues to show his versatility after being named to partner Blake Ayshford in the centres this week. Ryan has donned a number of jerseys this season on his way to a team high nine tries. Eels winger Ken Sio is undoubtedly Parrramatta’s find of the season scoring twelve tries from seventeen games and is sure to be a go-to-man on the Eels right flank.
– Both teams are desperate to win for polar opposite reasons, can the Tigers make the eight? Or will the Eels form reversal continue to see them climb off the bottom of the ladder to avoid the wooden spoon. This one is set go down to the wire! Selection: Any team under 6.5 points .
