Tuesday 3 July, 2012 - Two Melbourne couples are celebrating this week after winning a $1.25 million share in Saturday’s TattsLotto $30 million Mid-Year Megadraw!
The winning ticket was purchased by one of the couples as a gift for the other couple, but they decided before the draw that any money won with the QuickPick entry would be split evenly between them.
One of the winning husbands said it came as a huge surprise to all of them on Sunday night.
“My word!” he said in excitement.
“We were sitting around the table after dinner and I took out the Sunday paper to check the numbers while the others were talking,” he explained.
“I sat there in silence for a while, just reading the results over and over again thinking I was seeing things.
“When I finally looked up I said, ‘Guess what, we’ve got six numbers!’, then my wife said to me, ‘Six on all different lines, like usual?’,” he laughed.
“See, years ago I played a trick on my wife saying that we won millions in TattsLotto, so I’m like the boy that cried wolf and no one would believe me!”
The man said no firm decisions have been made for how to spend the money yet but it will help he and his wife in retirement, and each couple will think about buying a new car.
“We’ve already celebrated with a few bottles of wine – we’re rapt!”
The winning 24-game QuickPick entry was purchased from Central News & Lotto in Werribee Plaza, Werribee. The Outlet is having a run of good luck after selling an entry that won $1.3 million three weeks ago in TattsLotto draw 3223 on 9 June.
Throughout Australia 24 winners shared the $30 million division one prize pool in Saturday’s TattsLotto Mid-year Megadraw. Nine winning tickets were sold in Victoria, six in New South Wales, four in South Australia, three in Queensland and two in Western Australia.
Tatts is still waiting to hear from two unregistered winners from Saturday’s draw who purchased their entries at Wanda Street Lotto in Mulgrave and Clarinda Lotto News and Interpost in Clarinda.
The winning numbers in Saturday TattsLotto draw 3229 were 40, 37, 30, 33, 32 and 8 with the supplementary numbers 14 and 34. There were also 227 division two winners who took home $8,548.70 each.
