Sri Lanka faces India in game two of their five match One Day International series at Hambantota on Tuesday, looking to square the ledger. Despite a century by wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara , the hosts lost the series opener by 21 runs on Saturday after finishing on 9/293 from their 50 overs in pursuit of India’s 315.
After putting on a 173 run partnership in the series opener, Virender Sehwag and Virat Kohli are again the players most likely to punish Sri Lanka, with Kohli in particularly good form, having scored four centuries in his past five ODI innings. While he is likely to be part of an unchanged Indian side, Sri Lanka will be without fast bowler Nuwan Kulasekara who has been ruled out of the series with a groin injury.
Saturday’s loss was Sri Lanka’s sixth in their past nine completed ODI matches, while India has won four of its past five, including three in a row against Mahela Jayawardene’s side.
