Parramatta will be without superstar fullback Jarryd Hayne for their clash with the Newcastle Knights on Saturday night as they try to build on last week’s golden point win over Penrith. Despite having won two of their past three matches, they still find themselves at the bottom of the ladder.
Newcastle broke a five game losing streak with their eighteen point win over Wests Tigers on Monday night and will be looking to record back to back wins for the first time this year, but will have to do so with Queensland State of Origin representative Darius Boyd, who played a key role in their last match.
– Newcastle has won the past three matches between these sides, including a 14-6 success at Hunter Stadium in round six. At Parramatta Stadium however, the Eels have won thirteen of the nineteen contests, with the Knights winning on five occasions and one game ending in a draw.
– After being axed from the NSW squad for the State Of Origin decider, try scoring machine Akuila Uate will be determined to send a message to the selectors. Look out Eels!
Ryan Morgan has scored the first try for the Eels in four of their past six fixtures. He is a deadly finisher and will capitalise if given any space by the Knight defence.
– Both of these sides are arguably missing their most important player, with Jarryd Hayne and Darius both on representative duty. While the Knights can call on the likes of Jarrod Mullen to call the shots in Boyd’s absence, the Eels have looked rudderless without Hayne and may struggle to score points. Knights 1-12
