England can record their best finish since Euro 1996 with a win over Italy on Monday morning. The Roy Hodgson coached side will be hoping to continue their promising display after topping Group D undefeated with wins over Sweden and Ukraine and a draw with France. Italy scraped through to the quarterfinals in less than convincing fashion after drawing with both Spain and Croatia and defeating the Republic of Irleand. Italy hasn’t won a European Championship since 1968 after losing to France in 2000’s final.
– England are thankful to have regained the services of star striker Wayne Rooney who made an immediate impact for the Three Lions scoring the winner against Ukraine. Rooney will be a major part of England’s attack as they aim to win their first ever European Championship. The controversial Mario Balotelli is Italy’s most potent attacking weapon and on his day is one of the best strikers in world football, capable of finding the back of the net with long range efforts.
