The well-travelled Ortensia will be pressing hard to add to her international trophy cabinet when she contests the King Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot on Wednesday morning. The Paul Messara trained Mare will be hoping to extend her impressive 1000m Group 1 record when she lines-up in top company alongside European hopefuls Bated Breath and Wizz Kidd .
Ortensia recently claimed the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint over the same distance in which she is now four wins and a minor placing from five starts. Ortensia has drawn favourably starting from barrier five with champion Jockey Craig Williams in the saddle.
Champion UK sprinter Frankel is also in action on the opening day of Royal Ascot and is tipped to register his eleventh consecutive win in the Queen Anne Stakes. Flying the Australian flag is Peter Snowden trained galloper Helmet who has drawn barrier nine and will be ridden by young French jockey Mickael Barzalona.
