There are forty balls numbered 1 to 40 from which six winning numbers are randomly selected. A seventh ball, the "Powerball", is then drawn from a separate machine containing another twenty balls numbered 1 to 20. There are lots of easy ways to play Powerball and plenty of Powerball play options including QuickPicks, Favourites and System entries.

The Powerball draw closes at 7.30pm every Thursday night during non-Daylight Savings periods and 6.30pm during Daylight Savings periods*. The draw is held at about 8.45pm and broadcast on Channel 7 (check your local guide for times). Powerball results are usually available on this website by 9.30pm. Powerball results can also be obtained in other places.

There are 8 prize divisions in Powerball. To win a Division 1 prize, you need to match 6 winning numbers plus the Powerball in one game.
