Powerball is changing. What is different about the new Powerball?

From March 1, 2013 (Draw 877), Powerball will introduce some exciting game changes which will deliver Big Jackpots, a Bigger Prize Pool and More winners every week. Plus Powerball will introduce a new Division 8, which will help deliver more than double the number of winners every week. Read more about the exciting Powerball changes.

Is the Powerball price changing?

Pricing for Powerball can be found on the pricing page. You must play in multiples of two games at a time. The price per game is increasing from 75c to 85c per game from March 1 (plus Agent's Commission).

What are the odds of winning Powerball after the changes?

With the change to the game matrix starting on March 1 (6 from 40 and 1 from 20) and the introduction of new Division 8, the game odds have changed. The odds of winning any prize, based on a 12 game entry, is 1 in 10. Read more about the Game Odds here.

How do I win the new Powerball?

From March 1, you'll have to choose 1 number from 40 in the first barrel, and 1 number from 20 in the Powerball barrel. The ways to win have changed for each division, you can read them here. To win first division you need to match 6 winning numbers plus the Powerball. To win Division 6, you need to match 2 winning numbers plus the Powerball. Read more here.

What is the draw close time for Powerball?

Powerball draws close each Thursday at 7.30pm. During Daylight Savings the Powerball draw close time is 6:30pm.

Do I need to be watching the draw to win?

No, you do not need to watch the draw to win.

Does Powerball jackpot?

Yes. Powerball is a jackpotting game. Powerball first division prizes have jackpotted to as high as $80 million!

How do I play a system entry in Powerball?

How do I play a "Pick" entry in Powerball?

You can play a "Pick 4" or a "Pick 5" entry with Powerball. More information on playing a "Pick" entry can be found in the "Powerball How to Play" page within this website.

Do I need to get the Powerball to win a prize?

You do not always need to get the Powerball to win a prize. Information on prize dividends can be found in the Powerball Winning Combinations page within this site.

Do I need to pay tax on my winnings?

No. As with all Golden Casket prizes, you will not need to pay tax on your Powerball prize.

I live interstate & have won a prize. How can I claim my prize?

In order to claim your prize, you will need to write a brief letter which includes your return postal address and contact phone number. Attach your winning ticket (ensuring you have kept a copy) to this letter and mail by either security post or certified mail to:
