Mobile Phone Lottery Scam Alert
Golden Casket is appealing to players to be aware of a recent lottery scam, which takes the form of a mobile phone SMS message allegedly 'notifying' players of a 'Powerball prize win'.
Golden Casket wishes to reiterate to players that it does not communicate prize wins via SMS or email.
Golden Casket players receiving suspicious mobile phone messages, emails or telephone calls from someone claiming to represent Golden Casket are encouraged to avoid:
- paying money in advance to collect a 'prize';
- revealing personal or banking details to unknown parties; and
- replying to the message.
Example hoax SMS 1:
Your mobile# has won $850000 from Power-Ball lottery. Contact Ray via email desk.raybachel@gmail.com with name address and ref. pb334212 for proceeds
Example hoax SMS 2:
To Mobile#........ has won $850000 from PowerBall. Contact Ray via email(desk.raybachet@gmail.com) Ref#PB334212 for proceeds OR call +27735182244

Some of our customers have recently been targeted with a hoax email advising that they had won $3,000,000 AUD under the Power-ball (Australia) winning numbers for February, 2011.
Under no circumstances should you reply to this email or provide any requested details via an email.
Golden Casket or any other business of Tatts Group Ltd does not send emails or letters requesting further information for payment of prizes. If you are a winner of a lottery prize awarded by Golden Casket in whole or in part you can claim your prize at an Accredited Lottery Agent of Golden Casket within Queensland.
If your winning entry is registered to a Winners Circle Card, and you don't claim your prize, a cheque will be mailed to you four weeks after the draw. If you are an Online member and you have a win from an online purchase, you can login to check if you've won a prize. We'll also deposit the money directly into your Golden Casket Online lotto account, usually the next day.

Power-ball (Australia) winning numbers for Thursday, January 6, 2011 are 1, 15, 33, 34, 41. The Power-ball number is 1. Power-ball is a Australian national lottery game, administered by Tattersall's. Power-ball is drawn weekly at 8:30pm (AEDT) on Thursday nights. Entries close Thursday 6:30pm (AEDT). For Power-ball, 2 sets of numbers are drawn from 2 machines, each containing 45 balls numbered from 1 to 45 inclusive.
